Better choice, clearly described

We believe a jewellery retailer should help customers make a considered choice. We look at construction, finish, material suitability and design when selecting or developing a piece, then describe its key details as clearly as possible.

What we record

• The principal material and finish
• Dimensions, size or weight where this helps the customer choose
• Stone information where applicable and available
• Precious-metal fineness and plating type where relevant
• Any product-specific care or return information that should be known before purchase

Quality and compliance

We obtain material and product information from our suppliers, including relevant declarations of compliance with applicable UK product-safety requirements. We use this information as part of our supplier and product review process. As an additional part of our own due diligence, each quarter we randomly select a sample of items for testing against relevant product-safety requirements. Products are hallmarked where required by UK law.

Specific information over broad claims

We favour clear, product-specific information over general claims. Where a material, sourcing or certification statement is made, it should be supported by current documentation and explained in a way customers can understand.

Natural and production variation

Minor variations in gemstones, texture, finish, dimensions or hallmark position can occur. These do not automatically indicate a fault, but they should be represented honestly in the product description and imagery where they are material to the purchase decision.
